European Speed Climbing Cup in Zakopane – Europe’s Best Under the Tatra Mountains!

On June 14–15, 2025,
Zakopane will become the scene of top-level sporting excitement. Right in the heart of the city, at Plac Niepodległości, the second edition of the European Speed Climbing Cup will take place—one of the most dynamic and spectacular disciplines in mountain sports. The competition is part of the prestigious Tatra Fest 2025, which blends sport, nature, and culture in a unique Tatra Mountains setting.

A 15-meter-high climbing wall will be set up in an open urban space, giving both locals and tourists the opportunity to cheer on the top athletes from across the continent up close. Competitors will race in the record format, on the same route used during the Olympic Games in Paris, where Aleksandra Mirosław won a gold medal—Poland’s only one at those Games.

“Speed climbing is a spectacular discipline, and Poland has long been among the world’s elite. The European Cup in Zakopane is a great opportunity for our athletes—especially the younger ones—to face off against Europe’s best. Following Aleksandra Mirosław’s success in Paris, interest in this event is on the rise again—and the new world record, set just a few days ago by American Samuel Watson (6.64 seconds on 15 meters), shows how fast this discipline is evolving,” says Arkadiusz Kamiński, the event’s competition manager.
